Annual Women's Leadership Conference
On January 27, 2012, the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute held its annual HIGHER Ground Women’s Leadership Conference at the Richmond Marriott in Richmond, Virginia.
More than 200 women from across the commonwealth came together to explore this year’s theme Maximizing You: Unlocking the Treasures Within. Dr. Grace Harris, the institute’s namesake, opened the 6th annual event with a warm welcome to all conference attendees. Participants then attended one of five concurrent breakout sessions and reconvened for the conference luncheon. At lunch, Mary C. Doswell, Senior Vice President, Alternative Energy Solutions for Dominion, shared her personal and professional leadership experiences and insight with conference attendees. Following lunch, participants attended one of five afternoon breakout workshops before joining Mary Foley, of Bodacious Ventures, LLC, in a plenary session. Closing out the day-long event, the afternoon networking session allowed participants to reflect on their conference experience with other attendees, guest speakers, and staff.

Each year, this event serves as a preview of the extended leadership program for prospective participants as well as a time for past participants to share their leadership growth since their participation in the program.
