What is the purpose of the Department Chairs Program?

 

It is a seminar series designed to develop an in-depth understanding of VCU and to appreciate the similarities and differences in departments across the university. Participants do not have to make a commitment to attend all seminars but can choose the ones that best match their needs or interests.

 

Who may participate in the seminars?

 

Any VCU department chair, program director or individual with similar responsibilities is invited to attend. 

 

How many sessions are offered and when are they scheduled?

 

Three seminars are offered each semester in September, October, November, February, March and April.  All sessions are from 9:00 – 12:00 on Friday mornings. When possible, seminars are offered on alternating campuses.

 

What are some of the topics that are covered?

 

Representative topics include VCU budgets, infrastructure, faculty development, change, VCU 2020, and marketing
