Application information
Selection Criteria
The selection committee will be looking for aspiring leaders interested in issues affecting minority and underserved communities. Prior political experience is not required for consideration.
Application Requirements
The next class of MPLI will be held in 2012. Interested candidates may complete the online application or print an application form for submission by mail or in person. The application deadline is January 15, 2012. Applications received after this date will be considered based on space availability. All applicants will be notified of acceptance by February 15, 2012. Once accepted, all MPLI candidates must submit the tuition fee no later than March 15, 2012, to secure space as a participant.
Applicants must include two references from colleagues who can attest to the applicant’s leadership potential and abilities and current responsibilities.
Those selected to participate in MPLI are expected to fully participate in the six two day sessions offered during the months of April, May, June, September and October. Accepted participants are responsible for securing transportation to all meeting locations.
All required documents must be received by the application deadline in order for your application to be complete. Please ensure that your application contains the following:

$200 Application Fee (Application fee may be paid by credit card, check or purchase order. Please note that applications are not considered complete until payment is received.)

Tuition
The tuition of $1450 (which includes the $200 application fee) covers all program costs including intensive leadership assessment, lodging and meals on program days. Payments can be made by the sponsoring organization or by individuals. Participants are responsible for securing their own transportation to program sessions.
Once accepted, all MPLI candidates must submit the remaining $1250 tuition fee to secure space as a participant.
Certificate
Participants who complete the Minority Political Leadership Institute will receive a certificate of completion from the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute.
