Excellence in Virginia Government Awards

The Excellence in Virginia Government Awards (EVGA) is the signature event of the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. Held each year in late fall, the awards honor exemplary leadership. In the past 3 years, awards have been given out in seven categories: lifetime achievement, community enhancement, expansion of freedom, innovation in government, public-private partnership, public information, and unsung heroes.
The 4th Annual Excellence in Virginia Government Awards (EVGA) was held on December 4, 2008, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. Over 350 individuals and 24 sponsors attended this event. Some notable attendants included Governor Tim Kaine, First Lady Anne Holton, former Senator John Warner, Congressman Bobby Scott, and former Mayor Douglas Wilder. All proceeds from the EVGA are used to fund scholarships for Wilder School students, and the Wilder School would like to thank our generous sponsors for their support. In 2008, four students were selected as EVGA Scholars and received $5000 academic scholarships. For pictures from this wonderful event, please click here.
