December 4, 2008, 11-2 PM - The 4th Annual Excellence in Virginia Government Awards, Greater Richmond Convention Center

The Excellence in Virginia Government Awards (EVGA) are presented by Virginia Commonwealth University's L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs to celebrate the accomplishments of Virginians who have made distinctive contributions to the practice of government and to the well-being of our communities and our citizens.  Now entering its fourth year, the EVGA has become a hallmark of excellence for both VCU and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This year, the EVGA awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008, from 11:30- 2pm at the Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC).    I am writing to invite you to partner in this year’s EVGA through sponsorship.   All sponsors are invited to attend the pre-ceremony VIP/Photo Reception beginning at 11:00 am – immediately prior to the EVGA – in an adjacent room at the GRCC.   The Reception will provide an opportunity for us to honor our sponsors, our 2008 award recipients, and the multiple VIPs attending this year’s EVGA.

In 2007, over 400 individuals and 28 sponsors attended the EVGA.  A new tradition in the EVGA celebration is support of Virginia’s future public servants through merit-based EVGA tuition scholarships.   Scholarships are provided through the proceeds from the EVGA and are awarded in honor of the previous year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.   This year, four outstanding Wilder School students received EVGA scholarships in honor of Dr. Robert G. Templin, President of Northern Virginia Community College.

It is our distinct honor to announce that the 2009 EVGA student scholarships will be named in honor of our 2008 EVGA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Susan Aheron Magill, former Chief of Staff to Senator John Warner.
