Virginia Capital Semester 2010 Early Acceptance Application Deadline Approaching: April 15, 2009 (Regular Application Deadline is October 1, 2009)
Virginia Capital Semester is the joint honors internship program between VCU, the Virginia General Assembly, and the Governor's office Virginia Capital Semester is a program that provides students from colleges and universities throughout Virginia (and elsewhere) with an honors internship at the Virginia State Capitol or the Governor's Office in Richmond during the 2010 General Assembly session without losing time in completing their studies. The core of the program is an internship within the legislative or executive branch of Virginia government and an accompanying policy seminar that features presentations by key government and political leaders.
Students are able to take additional courses at VCU in areas that match their academic needs to achieve a full-time load that meet their academic requirements at their home institution. An internship stipend of $1,000 is provided to participants who are registered full-time (12 credits or more).
In the past five years, 220 students representing more than two dozen majors and 17 colleges and universities in Virginia have participated in the program.
