Virginia Capital Semester
Early Application Deadline: April 15
The early application deadline for Virginia Capital Semester is quickly approaching: April 15. Virginia Capital Semester is the joint internship program between VCU and the Virginia General Assembly. Regular admission is October 1.
Virginia Capital Semester is a program that provides students from throughout Virginia (and elsewhere) with an honors internship at the State Capitol in Richmond during the General Assembly session without losing time in completing their studies. The core of the program is an internship within the legislative or executive branch of Virginia government and an accompanying policy seminar that features presentations by key government and political leaders. Students are able to take additional courses at VCU in areas that match their academic needs to achieve a full-time load. An internship stipend of $1,000 is provided to participants who are registered full-time (12 credits or more).
In the past five years, 180 students representing more than a dozen majors and 16 colleges and universities in Virginia have participated in the program.
