Admission to the programs offered by Virginia Commonwealth University's L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs follows the general guidelines and policies for admission to the university and the College of Humanities and Sciences.

Specific requirements for admission as an undergraduate, as well as application materials and information about special programs may be found on the Undergraduate Admissions Web site or in the Undergraduate Bulletin.

General requirements for admission as a graduate student include a bachelor's degree, completion of the application to the Graduate School and test scores from examinations acceptable to the program. Program-specific requirements can be found on the Graduate School Web site and in the Graduate and Professional Programs Bulletin online.

Some persons holding advanced degrees from fully accredited institutions of higher education may be accepted as degree students without submitting standardized examination scores. And some students may take up to nine credit hours of course work with permission of the program coordinators, but without formal admission, which may be applied to a degree or certificate program upon admission.
