Compass MathPlacement Test
Review and Practice

The Compass website offers some background information on the test, including the topics covered in each subject area, and a collection of practice problems similar to the types of questions you might encounter taking the test. These are NOT test problems, but are merely indicators of whether or not you will need review of the subject matter.

On the Compass website, there are separate pages for Prealgebra/Algebra and for College Algebra/Geometry/Trigonometry. VCU does not test in the Geometry subject area.

Additionally, there are many sites available on the web which offers instruction and/or practice on each of the subject areas. A Google search will locate many potential sites. Searching ALGEBRA, for example, you might find the site www.gomath.com, which offers brief instruction in many algebra topics and allows the user to enter practice problems for which the program will return worked out solutions. Another site, www.math.uakron.edu provides much more text instruction with one question quizzes interspersed throughout, plus some practice exercises.
