Second 2007-2008 Conference for Grant Recipients

Forty-five schools within the Commonwealth of Virginia have grants issued in either 2006 or 2007 that provide the necessary training, consultation, and materials to implement the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. This Second Networking Conference of the 2007-2008 school year is designed to help Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee Leaders connect with each other, share with each other, and gain ideas for the next steps of the Bullying Prevention Program in their schools.

This conference is for Grant or Mini-Grant Recipients and their Olweus Certified Trainer/consultants, and is presented at no cost to attendees. Registration/Continental Breakfast begins at 9:00 and the conference will run from 9:30 to 3:00.

Ø  This networking conference is for grant or mini-grant recipients.
Ø    Each school must send two representatives who serve on the school’s
      Bullying Prevention Coordinating Committee.

Ø
    Schools—within grantee school divisions—who are considering implementation may
      send a representative.

Closing date for registration is February 29

School Bullying Prevention Committees are invited to BRIEFLY (3 Minutes) share a creative idea that may help your colleagues.  (You may send us a handout to copy). Please indicate the topic you will address:
  Creativity in Overcoming Obstacles
  Creative Idea: Classroom Components - class meetings, parent meetings, positive
       consequences
  Creative Idea: Individual Components - on-the-spot interventions, individual meetings
       with students
  Creating Stakeholder Buy-In: garnering interest & enthusiasm among staff, parents,
       students
