PHYS 215 Science, Technology and Society (Spring 2013)

Semester course; 3 lecture hours. 3 credits. Prerequisite: MATH 131, 141, 151, 200, or higher; or MGMT 171, 212, or 301; or STAT 208, 210, 212, or higher; or satisfactory score on the VCU Mathematics Placement Test within the one-year period immediately preceding the beginning of the course. Examination of scientific breakthroughs that have led to transformational technologies that are continuing to impact society today. Topics include a historical perspective, an understanding of scientific principles and technologies and an examination of how such discoveries have changed society.
