The Reading and Writing of Fiction and Poetry
Instructor: TBA, TBA

ENGL 295 Sections 701, 702, 703, 704

This course is an introduction to the basic elements of writing poetry and fiction, using published examples of contemporary fiction and verse as guides in the study of literary form and the production of original creative writing. Students will write and revise a number of poems, at least one short story, and various exercises in both of these genres. Employing workshop discussions, in-class writing assignments, and analysis of contemporary poems and short stories, students will be offered a practitioner's perspective on genre conventions and the process of revision.
