We See You

Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2018

Dear VCU and VCU Health System Communities,

As we work together to advance our distinctive mission as a nationally premier research university and academic health center, the most important commitment we make is the one we make to each other.  We strive to build an environment in which every one of us can succeed.  This includes all of our alumni and supporters; our faculty, staff, and students; and our patients who depend on us for leading-edge care.

Our culture of supporting and caring means that we see and listen to each other, including members of our community who may sometimes feel frustrated or disheartened.  I remind you that we see you, we hear you, and we are fully committed to your success as a vital member of our VCU community.

A message from President Michael Rao and Vice President for Inclusive Excellence Aashir Nasim about awareness and acceptance in the VCU community.

Please take a moment to view this video, which reinforces our strong institutional commitments to access and opportunity, diversity and inclusion, and tolerance and respect for each other.  It is the responsibility of every member of our community—at all levels—to work toward a more-supportive, more-inclusive environment for all.

Thank you for joining me in that commitment and for inspiring me to believe that VCU will be the best example of a place where everyone is empowered to succeed in profoundly important ways.
